LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Michigan State Senator Jon Bumstead (R- North Muskegon) has introduced a bill to allow schools to offer an option for a gun safety and hunting course. Bumstead introduced Senate Bill 664 with the backing of the Michigan Department of Education and the Department of Natural Resources. It’s also supported by the Michigan United Conservation Club. Amy Trotter, CEO of Michigan United Conservation Club, said offering a class in school will foster an appreciation of conserving the state’s natural resources. “We simply want to create future conservation stewards throughout our state,” she told Nexstar's WLNS. “And the best way to do that is through education. And the place where kids are is in the schools." Have a $2 bill? It could be worth thousands She said the legislation, if it becomes law, would encourage youth to become involved in hunting. DENVER (KDVR) — For those in Colorado, plastic grocery bags will soon be a thing of the past.Stores throughout the state have had to charge a 10-cent fee for every single-use bag they provide to customers since the start of 2023. Retailers could choose whether or not to keep providing plastic or paper single-use bags, with some, such as Walmart, eliminating single-use bags altogether.A second part of the law, passed in 2021, will take effect in January 2024. At that point, stores and some food establishments will no longer be allowed to buy new single-use plastic bags. These establishments will still be able to provide the bags to customers for the fee, provided they still have some in stock. But this status quo doesn't last forever: Starting June 1, stores won't be able to sell any single-use plastic bags to customers at all.Single-use paper bags, however, will still be allowed to be sold. MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Former Manchester City player Cole Palmer scored a penalty in the fifth minute of stoppage time as Chelsea came back to draw 4-4 with the defending Premier League champions on Sunday. Palmer left City for Chelsea in a deal worth around $52 million in September and showed supreme composure to fire past Ederson in the dying stages of a thrilling match at Stamford Bridge. Rodri had looked like securing a win for Pep Guardiola’s team with a deflected effort with four minutes left of regulation time. But referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot when Ruben Dias slid into substitute Armando Broja in the box. After a delay, Palmer swept his shot into the corner to stop City moving three points clear at the top. Chelsea dented Tottenham’s title ambitions with a wild 4-1 win against Ange Postecoglou’s team on Monday and proved a challenge for City, too, by coming back from behind on three occasions. Erling Haaland fired City ahead from the penalty spot in th...Latest news
