The Azerbaijani people will turn the COP29 summit into a platform for sustainable peace Climate change is a major hazard to biodiversity on the planet in addition to posing a serious threat to civilization and sustainable development worldwide. Melting glaciers, early plant blossoming, rising air temperatures, droughts, fires, natural disasters, and crises in the economy and society that are made worse by climate change are all obvious signs of global climate change. The substantial amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere in most states with large industrial centers as a result of the alterations brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution makes the fight against climate change much more difficult, writes Mazahir Afandiyev, member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is important to mention that this pressing issue first came up at the end of the past century. California approves rules for turning sewage into drinking water When a toilet is flushed in California, the water can end up in a lot of places: An ice skating rink in Ontario, ski slopes around Lake Tahoe, and farmland in the Central Valley. And — coming soon — kitchen faucets.California regulators on Tuesday approved new rules to let water agencies recycle wastewater and put it right back into the pipes that carry drinking water to homes, schools and businesses. It's a big step for a state that has struggled for decades to have a reliable source of drinking water for its more than 39 million residents. And it signals a shift in public opinion on a subject that as recently as two decades ago prompted backlash that scuttled similar projects.Since then, California has been through multiple extreme droughts, including the most recent one that scientists say was the driest three-year period on record and left the state's reservoirs at dangerously low levels. The Silicon Valley Advance Water Purification Center is pictured Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, in ...

SF Giants trade for outfielder who excelled at Triple-A last year The San Francisco Giants have been active at the top end of free agency, but that doesn’t preclude them from operating at the margins. After signing center fielder Jung Hoo Lee for $113 million over six years, the Giants added another outfielder — although on a much smaller scale. Tuesday morning, the team announced they traded cash and a player to be named later for TJ Hopkins, who played 25 games for the Reds last year.Hopkins, 26, struggled with the Reds in his first MLB action, going 7-for-41. His minor league results are much more promising; the righty slashed .308/.411/.514 in Triple-A last year. The Reds selected Hopkins in the ninth round of the 2019 MLB Draft after he spent four years at the University of South Carolina.Hopkins hasn’t fit the plate discipline profile of a typical Giants position player, as he strikes out significantly more than he walks. He does have power, though, smacking 16 home runs at Triple-A in 2023.The Reds designated Hopkins for assignmen...
