DENVER (AP) — A family filed a lawsuit Monday against a Colorado funeral home where 189 decaying bodies were found, alleging the owners allowed the remains of their loved ones to “rot” away while they sent families fake ashes. The gruesome discovery at Return to Nature Funeral Home occurred earlier in October after reports of an “abhorrent smell” emanating from a building about 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of Denver. Colorado has some of the weakest rules for funeral homes Law enforcement has started identifying the remains and began notifying families that their loved ones were among the bodies — sometimes years after they were allegedly cremated and given as ashes to grieving relatives. The lawsuit accuses Return to Nature and its owners, Jon and Carie Hallford, of intentionally inflicting emotional distress, negligence, fraud and violating a number of Colorado laws, among other claims.Calls and texts sent to numbers listed for Return to Nature and owners have gone unanswered ...Nine people arrested at protest outside Israeli defense contractor in Cambridge

A bad case of Collinsworth fatigue set in late Sunday during the fourth quarter of the Chicago Bears’ 30-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.A weekend of listening to NBC “Sunday Night Football” analyst Cris Collinsworth and his soundalike son, Jac, will do that. Both are competent announcers but are best used in limited doses. Jac’s ascension to play-by-play man for Notre Dame home games on NBC makes a Collinsworth family weekend inevitable for some of us, and too much Collinsworth is seldom a good thing. It was almost a given that Cris Collinsworth would spend most of Sunday night talking about quarterback Tyson Bagent, the only Bears player remotely worth discussing. This was a dog game on the “SNF” schedule, one of those unfortunate occurrences that happens whenever some TV executive thinks the Bears have turned a corner. You would think they have learned their lesson by now. According to Tribune reporter Dan Wiederer, the Bears have lost seven ...Bruins notch thrilling comeback win over Panthers

The Bruins notched their best characer win of the young season, scratching back from a two-goal deficit, climbing over some serious in-game adversity and pulling out a 3-2 overtime win over the Florida Panthers at the Garden on Monday.Pavel Zacha scored with 1:24 left in overtime to lift the B’s to a victory that seemed improbable earlier in the night. Linus Ullmark, meanwhile, made 36 saves for the win. After a brutal first period in which they went down 2-0, the B’s found their footing in the second with a goal and then Charlie McAvoy tied it up at 7:20 of the third period off a beautiful rush. Zacha made a nice touch pass to David Pastrnak, who had speed going through the neutral zone. Pastrnak sliced from left to right through the offensive zone and lifted a pass to the rushing McAvoy, who flipped his second in as many games past Sergei Bobrovsky. But McAvoy put his team in a hole with a hit to the head on Oliver Ekman-Larson with the puck nowhere close to the area in ...Toronto Paramedic Union issues another code red; no transport ambulances available

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democrats said Monday they plan to subpoena Republican megadonor Harlan Crow and conservative activist Leonard Leo for more information about their roles in organizing and paying for luxury travel for Supreme Court justices. The announcement by Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee comes as the court is being pressed to adopt an ethics code, a move that has been publicly endorsed by three of the nine justices. The committee could act as soon as next week to authorize Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the panel’s chairman, to issue subpoenas to Crow, Leo and another wealthy donor, Robin Arkley II.
